I'VE BEEN TRYING * THE IMPRESSIONS * ABC PARAMOUNT 10622 * USA

Beautiful song, beautiful arrangement and sung beautifully, this was the Impressions effortlessly showing the way for countless Soul groups who would seek to emulate them. Written by Curtis Mayfield and arranged by Johnny Pate I've Been Trying was always destined to be a classic.

Surprisingly it was the even slower Spiritual side of this great double sider that was played more in the London clubs when played at all, both being not the kind of tracks suited for dancers.

Be sure to check out the equally beautiful cover by The Blues Busters.
