1964

THE MAN IN YOU * THE MIRACLES * STATESIDE 282 * UK

(You Can't Let The Boy Overpower) The Man In You, to give it its full title, was one of the first three releases for Tamla in 1964, the other two being Castles In The Sand by Little Stevie Wonder and He's A Good Guy by The Marvelettes. Motown only released one record that January: Bobby Breen Better Late Than Never (I've never heard that one) but Gordy put out two: Live Wire by Martha And The Vandellas and The Way You Do The Things You Do by The Temptations, the Soul label had yet to issue anything but there was one on the VIP label: If Your Heart Says Yes by The Serenaders. So that would have been your Soul food for January 1964 from Berry Gordy's Soul kitchen.
