The singing sounds a bit lazy, like Laurel Aitken is not putting too much feeling into it, but the instrumental backing by The Skatalits lifts it out of the ordinary, with some punchy brass work on the breaks, one of which sadly fades towards the end when it can plainly be heard to go on.
