1965

I AM IN LOVE * THE TECHNIQUES * ISLAND 197 * UK

Keith 'Slim' Smith was  lead vocalist of the Techniques at the time this cut was released by Duke Reid, Smith was a founding member of the group but left for Canada in 1965 where he attempted to pursue a solo career. What is uncertain is why this record is credited to 'The Riots' as the group were under contract to Duke Reid, and therefore no moonlighting; two possible explanations are the folk at Island Records in the UK got it wrong, or possibly Duke Reid himself asked for it to be put out as this way to avoid paying the group anything for British sales.
