More Tamla Motown at its dancingest best, Heat Wave was the first of a triumvirate of exemplary dance records from Martha and the girls - Heat Wave, Quicksand and Dancing In The Street - that set the pace for the jivers (mostly girls) in the big Mecca ballrooms across London and the South East in the early days of the Mod movement. It was originally released in the US on Gordy 7022 in July 1963, and was the first British Stateside release of Tamla recordings, in October that same year.
