MY SOUND THAT GOES AROUND * PRINCE BUSTER AND HIS TORCH LIGHTERS * BLUE BEAT 101 * UK

Prince Buster making a bold and customary, defiant claim, that it is his sound that is the No1 on the Island. I guess only those privileged to be on the scene in and around Kingston Jamaica in 1962 can really endorse or dispute it.

It is the real richness of art, or if you prefer, culture such as the 'hop's', dances and contests that were host to the fabulous musicians, singers, deejays and enthusiastic audiences of this music in it's infancy  that acts as at the very least as a leaven to the oppressive and debilitating pressures of financial and political life  (at a time when it was delivered without any academic, literary or corporate over-coding) it was this climate of oppression that the likes of Prince Buster sought to not only contest, but in a big way alleviate with his music.
