It Must Be True Love was the Maytals penultimate release for Leslie Kong's Beverley's label. The group had had a creatively successful period of recording with Kong, from their first with him in 1968: the incredible 54 - 46 before moving on to record with producer Warrick Lyn for his Jaguar imprint.
