The Drifters started recording without Clyde McPhatter as lead in the spring of 1955 the first two cuts were with David Baughn as lead tenor, then in the autumn of that year Johnny Moore took over as lead tenor, and with the exception of the beautiful Your Promise To Be Mine and Drifting Away From You lead by Gerhart Thrasher, he sang lead until 1957.
