UP WAREIKA HILL * AUGUSTUS PABLO * ROCKERS * JA

Wareika Hill is quite literally a one of the hills like Sligoville, Pinnacle, outside of Kingston, Jamaica, it was on these hills that many 'Beardman' and later Rastafarian would live and congregate to reason and play music: and it was there Count Ossie and other luminaries of Jamaican music could be found during the 1960s. In 1962 the state security services raided the Rastafarian camp and homes on Wareika Hill in an assault on the Rastafarian movement that  was portrayed  in the media as a threat to national security.
