I'M JUST A COUNTRY BOY * SAM COOKE * RCA VICTOR 7128 * UK

This is a very sentimental Folksy song but sung by Sam Cooke it becomes a moving, Soulful ballad, it was never released as a single, either in the UK or US, so is only available on 45rpm on this EP. The song was written by Fred Brooks and Marshall Barer (Fred Brooks being a pseudonym of Fred Hellerman song writer and one time member of the Folk group The Weavers) and was first recorded by Harry Belafonte in 1954. Sam Cooke recorded two versions of the song, this is the first and was released on the Swing Low (RCA RD 27222) album 1961 in the UK, along with the four other tracks on this EP: They Call The Wind Mariah (miss spelt on EP), Long, Long Ago and Goin' Home. The second version was recorded in 1963 and was released on two albums Keep Movin' On and Shake.
