Produced by Dada Tuari and released in Jamaica on Caribou as a 78rpm, Tuari also released stuff in Jamaica during the 1950s on the Regal and Downbeat labels. Laurel Aitken moved to London, England in 1960, but cut many fine records in many genres in Jamaica before he left. A Mento style recording of the traditional Gospel song Swing Low Sweet Chariot, with its fascinating percussive rhythm and male vocal backing Sweet Chariot is a top early cut from the man who became better known in the UK than in Jamaica.
